In a unexpected crossover event that challenges usual expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Disclosed

According to the official release, "An unusual meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of prohibited rituals and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the obscurity." The plot presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden cult.

The mission concentrates on "peculiar trials and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Extra Content

Players who accomplish the quest will receive an exclusive katana alongside multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Past Anime Crossovers

This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
